Foundations are in direct contact with the ground and support the construction of all other elements, with stability and safety, for long periods of time. The use of drilling muds, whether based on polymers, bentonites or a formulation with both, aims to:

• Introduce viscosity to generate hydrostatic pressure on the hole’s walls in order to support the excavation;
• Slow down the settling of debris from the drilling at the bottom of the hole;
• Support the formation of a gel structure at the interface with the soil;
• Add lubrication to the area where the tool is in contact with the soil and prevent it from overheating.
