Together we can contribute to a circular economy
22 April 2026

Soon, Omya Mineral Portuguesa (OMP) will certify of some of our calcium carbonate (CaCO₃) grades as 100% recycled, produced from recovered raw materials.

We understand that, as partners for industry, our actions have impact. We must therefore take concrete measures that meet the needs of our industry and society at large.

We start with the principle that CaCO₃ is itself a sustainable material: of natural origin, with a low carbon footprint, very versatile and renewable (studies show that ecosystems replenish very year more CaCO₃ than is extracted by industry).

But we want to go further. We have created the Omyaloop FC product portfolio, a range of products that are certified to be made with 100% recycled CaCO₃, originating from recovered raw materials.

Omyaloop FC products adhere to the ISO 14021:2016 standard, which uses the following terminology:

• Recycled content: the proportion (in KG or MT) of recycled material in a product or packaging;

• Recycled material: material that is processed from materials recovered from another production process and transformed into a distinct product;

• Recovered material: material that would otherwise be discarded as waste, but in this case is processed in place of virgin material.

We developed the Omyaloop FC line with our customers in mind, to help them increase the content of recycled material in their products. The certification process will be audited by an accredited entity, who will issue a certificate of conformity.

Omyaloop FC products will directly replace some of the products in our existing line. We have introduced a new nomenclature for products we already supply to indicate that they are duly certified. These are not grades with new specifications, and no homologation process will be required.

Omyaloop FC products will not have a different pricing strategy to our existing product range. We are taking this important step not to increase our margins, but because we believe in the positive impact of the project, and because we want to be part of the solution.
