Titanium dioxide (TiO2) assures whiteness, opacity and shine to paints and other coatings. Due to its central role in these industries, Salmon has strengthened its position as a key TiO2 distributor in Portugal.

We have partnered with Shandong Jinhai Titanium Resources Technology Co., Ltd (Jinhai) to supply the Portuguese market. Jinhai has invested heavily in its productive capacity of the last few years, enabling it to become an important global supplier of rutile TiO2 (via sulfate-based), while complying with international best practices. Jinhai is certified in ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:2007.

Due to our generous warehousing capacity and stock management, Salmon has managed to maintain a constant availability of Jinhai’s TiO2 for our customers and the wider market. Regardless of our clients’ needs, whether just 25kg or a full truck, we can provide one of the following grades:

• R6618(T): Coatings (general use)
• R6658: Plastics (MB, PVC, engineering polymers)
• R6628: Coatings (road markings)

Besides these grades, Jinhai can also supply the following solutions:

• R6638 and R6600: Paper
• R6668: Printing inks and coil coating

As a result of our planning and close collaboration with Jinhai, Salmon managed to maintain regular supply of TiO2 at competitive prices throughout 2021, which was a very challenging year. Also, Jinhai’s TiO2 has proven to be very effective, due to its outstanding properties. Consequently, we have managed to make it a regular choice of preference for our customers.

Jinhai is also now producing rutile TiO2 grades via the chloride process, but at this initial stage they are only servicing their domestic market. We expect that in the near future we will be able to add these new products to our portfolio for the Portuguese market!
